On a Thursday, what time should I leave DTLA to get to LAX by 6:30? Not sure if the traffic is back to prepandemic level
Any thoughts on Manhattan beach or hermosa beach for a single 29 Male - have the option of moving out west and San Diego and LA are on my mind. Love being outdoors (road biking, running, would love to pickup surfing & volleyball), enjoy nice restaurants, meeting new people, etc. I won’t know anyone in either city so hopefully it’s not impossible to make friends 😬
On a mileage run today: DFW-CLT-ATL-MIA-DFW.
Spent the weekend partying in San Diego and LA. Back in northern va working remotely. How do I not hate my life today? Serious answers only
To the guy that I've never talked to but see every week on the M-Tr ORD-LGA. I'm flying out of JFK today, don't file a missing persons report or anything. See you Monday, bro.
Which SF neighborhoods to consider? Lady 🐠 looking for safe 1br with public transit / walking accessibility to FiDi and not far from SFO. Hoping to spend $3k-$3300, but could go up to $3500.
Anyone in San Jose, CA want to get happy hour post work today? Just looking to chill as I’m here for a short vacay. F27
22 and have 30K I've been meaning to invest for over a year. Wish I had. Given market volatility, what kind of DCA strategy should I take to invest now? Or should I hold off till after elections?
How many of you are on track to FIRE in a HCOL area (NYC, SEA, Cali, etc.)? I currently live in Texas, and while no state income tax is great, I don't like living here.
Heading to the slopes today! This Tag is my favorite sport watch. Not the most expensive piece I’ve got, but is perfect for what it does. Adjustable band fits around the inside liner of my ski jacket. Technically, it is a diving watch, and I actually prefer it to my Sea Sweller for that too. The matte black color doesn’t attract fish and other sea creatures like shiny watches do!
Have people in San Francisco never seen a person wear camo before? Tf you keep staring at 🙄
OK , I ran across the airport like a crazy dog between terminals & made my connection in <7 mins. For those who moved aside to give me way at SLC 🙏🙏 and for those who yelled “Good Luck!” 🙏🙏
Traveling to Utah this summer. Flying round trip to SLC, but am getting a rental for 7-10 days to hit some national parks (Zion, Moab, etc.). Any recommendations on must-do activities and/or food??
what's the best car you've been upgraded to? mine was a BMW X5 at SFO and a Mercedes GLE at LAX
Anybody know the TC for a Gastroenterologist in Atl area. Asking for a friend who is planning to move here
Your yearly reminder that if you’d bought the DJIA in 1929 you didn’t become profitable in real terms until 1955. It wasn’t just WW2. If you’d bought the DJIA at the beginning of 1966 you lost almost 75% to inflation over two decades and didn’t recover in real terms until 1995. You’d have made nothing between JFK’s death and Clinton’s second term. We are in a particularly weird period of “stonks only go up” but remember those 8% returns over the long run mask generation-defining risks.
Ladies, I am on maternity leave now and feels like my whole time is consumed by my little buddy. When you are on maternity leave, did you manage to read any books or develop any other skills using the golden time?
Is it necessary to open a reimbursement account ? Just curious to see whether your reimbursements (mobile phone reimbursement) would be credited to your salary account in case a reimbursement account is not available.
Hearing layoffs at Burnett?
Considering an internal move from recruiting to HRBP. Has anyone done this? If so, why and how has your experience been so far?

Has any job searcher gotten an interview through networking or career posts here? Relatedly, is fishbowl an app paid/sponsored by (big) law firms to monitor how their employees really feel/think? I know it started out in the ad industry...
After 2 years of final rounds, rejections, and numerous applications, I am finally a Software Developer. For everyone going through adversity or a career change, keep going. I’m proud to say that I never gave up!
Super happy with my girlfriend - we’ve been together for almost three years now and are quite serious. But something that’s always irked me a little is that she’s pretty adamant about having kids in 5 years (I’m 24, she’s 23). I think that’s a little early for my liking - I’ve always imagined myself to have really made it in my career (doesn’t have to be making Partner, but at least few million in the bank) before having a kid. It’s still early, but what’s the best way to compromise and think?
Thinking of scrapping CPA plans for now and going to applying to law schools with accounting bachelors. With a 3.3 gpa is it possible to get into a good enough law school? Am I being ridiculous? Would love insights of people that might have gone through a similar position. Why did you stay as a CPA? Why did you go to law school? Was Law School as useful as you thought it would be?
When you’re interviewing at a law firm, when is it typical to learn the salary? If they want to extend an offer, how do these conversations usually happen?
I’m curious: At what number of booster shots too much for you? (I’m not sure about country differences but for example: UK 3 shots is now vaccinated and Israel is going from 3 to 4 shortly) I say this not because I think the vaccine is bad (stops severe disease) but I remember quite clearly the messaging was you take the two, you won’t get or spread COVID and therefore life goes back to normal. Now this clearly isn’t the case have you changed your stance?
I was promised a promotion which never materialized. Pissed me off big time and I found a new position. Just put in my 2 weeks notice, which led to an emotional discussion with my boss. They’re upset that I’m leaving and apologized many times. I know the new position is way better for me in terms of compensation and career growth, and my new team is already communicating well with me. Super happy with them! But now feel bit guilty for leaving. Also feel stupid for feeling this way. What to do?
I have a union position as a therapist. My management kept telling me "we're working on it" when I asked about a raise since getting my LPC. Our union contract does not renew until 7/1 of next year. I brought this to my supervisors attention and now the director emails me to say basically "yes, we are working on a raise but nothing can happen until 7/1/2022". Has anyone else had this experience? Of management being vague and just stringing people along?
