Hello, what is working in retail banking like at JPMorgan Chase ? Specially the branch manager role. I’m looking in the Columbus area. How is pay, culture, benefits, sales environment, meetings, etc. How easy is it to transition from retail banking to corporate. I hear the Polaris campus has great opportunities, I was thinking about getting my foot in the door through retail then transferring to corporate ?

If you think that Investment Banking and Corp. Development are more fulfilling career-wise, maybe. Other than that, hard to think this would make financial sense.
I’m extremely skeptical you’d find IB or Corp. Dev. more fulfilling beyond the $.
What are your hours right now btw?
Dude! You are making $200k and working 60hrs a week?? Stay there for a few years and build up a pile of cash. Then, you can look at options
Was given this advice by a young CEO that I’ve been working for recently, I think it applies to your situation:
the worst trap a young leader can fall into is putting too much weight on opportunity cost. When you’re afraid to take the next step in your career because your current job pays a lot you get stuck, you become someone who’s doing it for the money, and you lose your purpose.
Love it!
Everyone literally get a different answer every time this question is asked on Fishbowl.
I couldn’t justify it as:
1) I already got promoted to the MBA +1 level
2) My comp was $100K more than avg M7 grad, due to stock inflation at $300K
3) If I feel like I need the degree I can do part time

I got my masters for 28k.
VP2 that’s amazing. And a great way to look at it. I guess the flip side would be the few years “lost” due to a non brand name school pays foe the cost of a top tier by itself. I think as long as you’re happy with it then that’s amazing (and a great deal!)
No
OP just get the MBA. You’ve already convinced yourself.
Really depends on your goals. Sounds like a solid work resume so not sure if it’s worth 2 years. Plus debt? The value of investing 2 years of earnings?
By the way, I have an MBA.
Def do an EMBA and have your firm pay
That’s great OP! I don’t have an MBA but acc to me what these B schools offer is their brand name and the network that comes with. If you feel like you’re lacking one of these and they can make a difference to your current career progression it might be something to consider. If not, then I reckon you’re in a pretty good spot to move up the ranks as is or pivot into finance/IB.
First off good for you! My advice would be to stick around at least another 2-4 years before applying. Gives you time to save up; opens up potential for new opportunities at a time when you’ll be better prepared for them (ie after a few years of experience).
Look into online MBA programs. In this day and age with pandemic, everything is virtual anyways.
You will be able to finish your MBA in 2 and half years, ofcourse less, if you take more classes per semester and summer sessions as well.
Get the best of both worlds. School work/professional Work/personal life balance will be something you will have to manage, but it's not impossible to do.
Online programs will make you less attractive for IB, not more

Why are there so many haters? Be happy for OP
We jealous 😩
Lies. lol.
OP why not wait a few years and reassess?
People need to stop freaking out. I seriously doubt this person manages 300 people, has a massive p&l responsibility. Some firms just give big salaries and big titles.
M4 gets it
@OP What did your end up deciding? Did you? Not same situation, but same age and making 150k and trying to make up my mind too.
and another year of promotions would only make the decision harder to justify

Can you try out IB either through direct analyst admit or internship. My fear is it won’t fulfill the dream and it’s a lot to do an mba for.
OP should not try for a direct analyst role. It is a big pay cut and step down. Post-MBA banking is almost guaranteed at an M7 and gives you more career mobility if they decide to do something else. I went to an M7 and have had so many doors opened up from going to a top school. Recruiters filter on industry (e.g. consulting / banking) and then top MBAs first, then look at niche experience.
Go for EMBA. That's the best option here.
Many top mbas have generous merit based scholarships. if you’re a young high performer it might be $0 cost outside of lost in salary.
while there is definitely diversity recruiting, there is merit as well. I went to a T10 school Asian Male and ended up getting 1/2 my tuition through merit as did a lot of my white male colleagues.
Not saying everyone gets it but you can if you manage to stand out. and the only way to know is to apply.
A2 and then in year two you get roasted by the Associate and can get promoted to VP. Not many analysts get the bump to associate. And Associates get to go home more nights than analysts.
