Is it bad to be over-utilized? I just did the math and I could charge zero hours this week and take a 3 week vacation after and still be 100% utilized? Is that abnormal?

How much should I charge a friend to watch 4 dogs at their home over Christmas weekend (2 nights)? The dogs don't have any special needs or medications. I've dog sat for other people in the past but always for free. I also have had dogs of my own for most of my life. I work on short-term projects with very scrutinized budgets, yet my utilization is supposed to be 100%, so my hours are scrutinized by the teams I work with and leadership. 3 weeks of pto left and planning on quitting in two months when my year hits and I get to keep my sign on. Anyway I can just work until three weeks before my year mark and then two weeks beforehand tell my team I’m resigning. Or just ask for week of pto and then work abs then get payout?

Discussion post: I feel almost all consulting firms are the same. Mbb, big 4 etc. if you are paid enough there is probably less wlb. If there is good wlb there is not much money. Can you single out a company that you can confidently say pays very well and also has good wlb and also has good opportunities etc.?

A quick note about what I’ve experienced, in my decade long career, is the real advantage of MBB or FAANG - it gives you a shot at stretch roles that are outside your expertise. Not all the time or even most of the time compared to better candidates with specific experience for the role but gives you this wildcard shot at a vast array of opportunities.
