I’ve had drivers with very high 4.9s, thousands of rides, and still were not all that great; and I’ve had drivers that were in the 4.7s that were amazing.
My theory about high scores is due to Uber making it more effort to give less than 5 stars. To me, 3 stars is average, 5 stars is exceptional, above and beyond expectations. But when I try to give 4 or fewer, I have to justify why I’m “taking away” stars. Easier to just default to 5 unless there’s a major issue that needs to be reported to customer service. As a result, the ratings, including my own as a rider, don’t really mean much to me. Can’t remember the last time I had a driver with less than 4.9...
That’s a valid point
