Just starting the process as well. There are VSOs, veteran service organizations, that are authorized by the VA to help you typically for free. VFW is one of them, you can see a list online. In Texas, I'm using the Texas Veterans Commission, a state gov entity, to help with mine.
There is a ton of information on the r/VeteransBenefits reddit
Ah good to know! I’m Texas as well
Also, the VFW does it for free if I’m not mistaken.
Is this the guy named Brian? If so, he’s a blue falcon. He bought out a site that had this information for free and put a paid firewall on it to monetize it. Of course he’s Air Force too
I briefly did google reviews of the firm itself and saw mostly good feedback. Few bad ones here and there as with any organization. But would rather not support a pos one
I did it all myself.
Try your nearest Vet Center. They won’t charge you. Good luck with the process!
VFW and Vet Centers are great resources but typically are backed up. I haven’t heard of VAClaimInsider but have experience with Trajector Medical which is a third party who helps with paperwork to receive a deserved rating
Many different people in several different Vet groups give amazing praise to this team.

My dad used the DAV with super results. IIRC they have a office in the same building as the VA in St. Louis. If you have a local DAV or VFW contact them they aren’t for profit and have the same “hookups” as the for profit if not better.
VFW and Wounded Warrior Project are the two that I’ve used. WWP does more than VA claims assistance (free events, job placement assistance, etc) so I would recommend checking them out even if you don’t use them for your claim.
Good to know! Thanks both!
There are a ton of companies out there who prey on vets looking for VA disability. The VA is to blame because they make the process complicated. There are a lot of free resources out there that others have already mentioned. Your experience will come down to the specific veteran service officer (VSO) who is helping you - there are some great ones out there, and many not so good. And they tend to be backed up as well, especially now because of the Pact Act that recently passed. There are many Reddit and Facebook groups focused on this topic and I highly recommend joining some of those and just reading through the information there. Lots of helpful info there.
The online help that is not the gov or DAV/VSO/VFW will take a portion of your benefits every month. DO NOT USE THEM! There are too many ways to get help from the above for free.
Y’all are the best for all this awesome info!
