I don't think anyone's giving a salary bump for a PMP. It is good to have if a client is requesting a manager with program manager experience. Having the PMP would put you in a better position to get the role over a colleague who doesn't have one. But that's the only added benefit I can see. However some people really like to put a lot of letters after their name on LinkedIn so if that's you then go for it.
I dont know what you heard about me. But you ain't get a process outta me. Cause I'm a mf P.M.P
If you love PMO, go for it. Otherwise pretty worthless given you have an MBA already. Spend the extra effort learning new industry or technical skills.
Welcome to fishbowl, Kurt salmon

Every PMP certified person I've met is a horrible PM, my father included. If you know how to PM you don't need a fucking certification, you get one of those "reputation" things
I have yet to meet a PMP that is a kick ass project manager. The best ones are more technical delivery managers that have a knack for relationship building.

I have an MBA and considered going for my PMP. Instead I went for a CSM and that has been far more valuable for me. I also happen to a pretty good PM (I'm kind of a rock star actually).

Not trying to steal the post but what if you are pre-MBA? Would you recommend just banging out the PMP for a little salary bump?

I think learning scrum is more valuable. Everyone is trying to shift to agile anyway. I think PMP is pretty worthless.
If you were a rockstar you'd show it, not say it
I believe in fed advisory you need a PMP to be a manager. I agree it's useless though. Just a title government cares about
I would never say it if people knew me - I am pretty humble but this app is anonymous. I continue to prove myself and everything boils down to performance. Ultimately I get shit done and I do it well. I don't see any issues at being good at your job and taking pride in your work.
