Guys there’s this boot camp that I came across that trains people to get jobs in Top consulting firms and has a fee plan wherein you pay once you get placed. I just wanted to know if someone here has any experience with this ?

People leave companies for many reasons. Being treated badly is only one, and hopefully a rare one.
Even if that is the reason, doing a poor job in retaliation is likely to hurt people other than the one you intend. Eg Your slack will probably impact your teammates in addition to your boss. It would be much more productive and professional to use your new found freedom from fuck giving to have an honest conversation with those who treated you badly.
I am a partner working at 1:45 am (just turned off my computer and decided to take a peek at FB, addictive huh?). I’ve spent 20 years in consulting and it is not uncommon for me to work late. It doesn’t upset me. It’s consulting. We have tough jobs. They are very demanding. I want to make sure I sell work so I can provide work for others. I want to make sure my team’s deliverables get the benefit of my experience woven in. So.. I crunch it. Always have. The only times in my career I wanted to quit was when I wasn’t appreciated. If that is the case, you should find a place (inside or outside your firm) where you are valued. But if it is hard work that has you worked up, you need to leave consulting!!!! Cuz #itdoesntgetbetter 😭
Employees don’t leave bad companies, P1, they leave bad bosses.
👆🏼P1 who the F cares? When people get treated like shit they leave.
But you aren’t actually quittin doe you just venting
Guess partners don’t care. Take all the money while everyone else gets left holding the bag of shit. Might as well get paid the most to hold the shit.
I hope you act more professionally at your next firm
Take it and run. Only 1 way to increase your salary in this world.
So this seemed to kick up a lot of dust, thanks for everyone's thoughts, I'll clarify. I actually worked on it because it's "doing the right thing" so I didn't sleep much. However after it went to the partner for review, the client said it wasn't what they were looking for. There's tons of rework. Our obsession with a quick turnaround totally bit us in the ass, it should've been discussed more with the client. Not sleeping in was effort in vain, and it sums up exactly why I'm leaving consulting. I learned to work smarter not just harder to get the same good outcomes, I'm done killing myself on things that lack real purpose. I want to spend more time volunteering and giving back. Having a stable relationship. Exploring the world.
M1 with the anger management issues.
P1 would be first in line to drink the kool aid at Jonestown.
A lot also depends on why the deck is due at 6am. Bad manager? Abusive client? Partner request? If it's the manager, then there needs to be escalation as it's not sustainable. I don't know any partners at our firm that would ask that of us without a DIRE need. And even then, it would be understood to make up the time afterwards. If it's the client, again escalation is needed. Our team has had both directors and partners go to bat for us when a client was giving unreasonable requests (e.g. Changing the request at midnight and wanting it for 'when he wakes up'). If it is the partner making the request, then it's really up to the manager to either push back or at least communicate the need. As for someone who may already be planning to leave - either get off the project so someone else can do a good job, or as P1 said, just be professional and suck it up
We don’t work in an emergency room. To me it is poor planning to have something due at 6am. and disrespectful to a person’s personal life.
The only way I see this as acceptable is if OP messed something up and was given a chance to redo and 6 am is the cutoff
We work in a tough industry but I feel like there is some communication that didn’t happen for OP to be annoyed by the request.
Also I don’t condone doing poor quality work.
How many
Make sure you tell them they are smoking bat shit and to roll you off their shit ass project first. Will make you feel good shaking them up as you pop smoke 👍🏼
Sc1- why else would he leave moron? If he was happy he’d stay. Smh. Many reasons = treated badly.
A lot of teenage angst in this thread.
P1 -
1. People leave for all sorts of reasons, and we’re talking about the “bad boss” reason
2. Leaving the bad boss is not about hurting anyone, it’s about respecting yourself enough to not put up with mistreatment (The conversation alternative you’re talking about is just gasoline on a fire)
3. Any fallout as a result of an employee leaving a bad boss is the leadership failure of the bad boss and thereby their responsibility, not the employee protecting themself
4. The question the bad boss (and all bosses) should be asking is “what can I do to ensure my team has everything they need to be successful?” And then live it.
Oh fuck that. Go have a 🍸
Why is P1 getting a rinsing. Fairly innocuous and relevant comment from P1, what am I missing?
