As long as you don’t expect others to be working too, you do you.
Personally, I won’t work weekends because I’ll burn out, and don’t want to set those expectations. I don’t think you’ll get any gold stars for “dedication”.
I came back to post this as well. I once had a manager say that this was the case for me. He continued to blame me for working nights and weekends. It was not seen favorably until I left and he had to replace me with 3 people (not exaggerating). The impression was like D1 said, that I had poor time management skills.
To me it shows you are incompetent as you could not get your work done during the week. On top of that if you are trying to show and get acknowledged for it you are toxic as well
Deloitte, tell us what you really think, lol
We don’t have the context for why you’re logging on and what’s the norm for you and your colleagues. I know a lot of people who log on either on Sunday or very early Monday morning to get organized for the week.
Lower expectations.. usually extra hour work sos not regarded.
Did someone ask you to work or assign you something due on Monday? Or did you just hop on your laptop and get a start on the week?
Warning Will Robinson! You’re setting expectations that are hard to reverse later on - expectations you put on yourself WRT to productivity and dedication AND those that others have of you. You are doing work for free. It doesn’t actually prevent new work from taking its place, reducing stress or improving readiness, assuming this is a you doing it if others are expecting this of you, make sure you are setting proper expectations and boundaries. But as a chronic overworked, I assure you that this is never-ending burden. If you feel you MUST in order to be prepared for the week, etc, talk to your manager to assure priorities are aligned.
It won’t be appreciated and quickly forgotten. Do it only if you want to.
