We all like to think in our field that the smartest and most capable people rise to the top. But in reality, who gets promoted or heard often comes down to networking or charisma not just technical skills or hard work. I’ve seen colleagues passed over because they’re quiet or not great at self promotion, while others climb fast because they ‘present well’ in meetings. We need to acknowledge that and stop pretending the system is purely based on merit.

I have been using this emoji 🙏 and saying to so many colleagues and clients “I’ll pray for you” with such warm and genuine receipt that I think sometimes God uses hopelessness to open people’s hearts to Him. I’ve spoken about my faith to work people more than I ever have in my 20 year career. In such a dark time, what a light prayer can be for our coworkers and clients.

Can I still work as a telemarketer even though I have a noticeable accent? People don't say they can't understand me but they seem relieved when they get to talk to somebody else.
