We had a guest go viral on TikTok last week blasting our prices, called us “bougie garbage” and tagged us in 5 videos. Now we’ve got people showing up filming at the door, demanding discounts “because TikTok said you overcharge.” 😒It’s honestly exhausting, our staff is stressed and the regulars are weirded out. If this happened to you, how would you respond to online hate that’s spilling into your dining room?

I'd probably have our social team make one post acknowledging it, lock comments, and move on. It's going to be rough for a few days, but most of these people don't have enough of an attention span to keep the harassment up for much longer. Side note, but where do these people get off doing this crap? If a restaurant is outside of my price range, I don't go on an online crusade trying to ruin it, I just don't dine there.

Report their dumb little account for libel. See how they like it when their income stream is affected.

Oh gosh, that is terrible to hear. I am sorry that you are having to deal with that. People don't realize how one Tik Tok going viral can literally ruin a small business.

I’d say I’m sorry you feel that way. If they want a comment I’d give them an email to send an email to that’s about it. I’m not the press for the restaurant lol.

DO NOT read anything online about the place where you work. You want to be completely in the dark when those vultures show up looking for discounts or content. You can then stand firmly in the real world as you are dismayed by grown adults shaping their entire perception of a place based on what a total stranger wrote online. 20 years working in restaurants and I still have a hard time knowing what "Professional" critics are talking about in reviews, let alone this sub species of foodies who have made it their life's work online. Patronage does not make anyone an expert. Until you get used to tiny splatter burns all over your arms from fry station, schlepping hundreds of pounds of frozen dough or trays of marrow bones from the basement, or fallen down the stairs carrying 50lbs of raw chicken because the elevator is "only for the kegs", I couldn't care less what you think. Anyone who has cooked for a living and has any sense of decency, doesn't leave public critiques of someone's work. You can have an off night, it happens. Only now there are malicious busybodies compiling photographic evidence and calling local news stations, because why not? Someone should be terminated, and publicly shamed. Not because someone got sick. Because someone didn't enjoy their lunch as much as they expected to. What they have come to expect is a mystery, and what might upset them cannot be forseen. Their fury is quick, indiscriminate, and often miss guided. If you have never worked in a kitchen and you critique restaurants online, you have no soul.

We recently got the ok to schedule our orientation and delivery date for our IVF medications and all I have to say is ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF! My husband has dermatomyositis, and his doctor put off treatment so that we could do some collection and go through IVF. I felt like my dr was blowing off our timeline, but I persisted. I worked with CVS Caremark directly and got approval in 2 days (not the expected 3 weeks). Moral of the story: ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF!

I’m a 9th year in a mostly litigation-based practice group at a one-tier partnership firm. My group’s billable hours have been low the last few years, so making partner will be nearly impossible, and a counsel position is not viable long-term in my group. What’s the best option here if partnership is the ultimate goal? Try to get a NEP/counsel position at another firm, which is likely difficult in my market, or offer to take a class cut by a few years?

I had quite the day the other day. Coustmer comes in and then ends up leaving with a grossed out look on his face just for him to put in a complaint about my appearance...he down right called me some nasty things for no reason. Still feeling gross about it. He was upset for no reason as far as I'm concerned.

So I work as an assistant manager at a restaurant for the past 9 months. I've worked in restaurants for the past 6 years science I was 16. Now I'm 22. I went to a trade school for media and film. I got a dream opportunity to work in the field making about the same or 10% more. I told myself the only reason I'd leave this company is for this type of job. Should I take the chance at this job and leave the restaurant that is on the rise and growing?

Should I try to negotiate a raise or look for other opportunities?
