Zoom interview etiquette... have some IB interviews coming up, obviously very professional groups. Backdrop options are my bedroom, a wall with a row of framed comic books, or just a blurred background... leaning towards the comics since it may spur conversation but would like some thoughts from the broader group

I never thought I’d say this, but I kinda miss the networking events and stuff. I used to just show up to those to be a good “firm citizen,” but I’d really love to see another lawyer in person instead of through a Zoom call. If I ran into one of my old classmates from law school, I’d probably hug them right now.

Have NYC-based employers with hybrid schedule been lenient for office workers? In light of crime trends, pandemic, work-life priorities, I'm trying to assess if taking a hybrid NYC job (as someone working remotely from NJ now) is worth the headache. Potential new employer says 3 days in a week, but during my interview process, I only met with one person who was in the office during my Zoom interview.

Does anybody else think that the Wharton Slack & Discord groups are kinda quiet/inactive compared to admit groups from other schools?

Our local Y had an “in person virtual” program last year, so I escaped most of this, but my daughter was quarantined a few weeks ago, kept coming into zoom calls (a la the BBC guy) not paying attention to class etc. she is 6. Im less worried about my 8 y/o.

I’m leaving consulting after 4YOE, going for manager next year if I stay. Been offered a BI Analyst role for great pay but feels like a career step back.

Main reason I’m unhappy with ‘BI Analyst’ is because I don’t want to be just a SQL+dashboard analyst but rather drive more predictive / DS analytics in python/R etc.
I’ve expressed this to them and they were excited. I still feel the title doesn’t reflect that?

I had my annual review today and was disappointed to find out that I will not be getting a promotion to a senior title and I will not get a significant raise (3% at most).
