Currently an EM at McKinsey, joined as a lateral hire after 6yrs in consulting (strategy boutique) and a short stint at a lesser known PE firm. What prospects would I have pivoting back to PE?

If you’re at B4, would you get any serious consideration at M7s if you tried to matriculate right when you hit the 3 year mark (apply at 2)? I hear that a lot of MBB people do this but the standard timeline for B4 seems to be to matriculate at 4 YOE.

Anybody got any good recos on stats/coding courses for beginners? I’m an extremely client-facing analytics guy with knowledge of these things but not really the technical skills to execute.

What are the best exit opportunities after working in ODD, CDD, valuations for a few years? IB? PE possible?

How do you transition from big 4 consulting to big law? My clients are all funds, and I do international tax consulting. I have used my connections to refer me into probably 10 big law firms and it’s not working. One most recently came back and said they aren’t interested bc I have no law firm experience. How am I supposed to get it though? I can’t go to lower ranked firms bc my clients are all “big.” … any suggestions appreciated!

IMO I’ve never seen more pharma jobs open. And I keep seeing so many people in non-pharma looking for new jobs... well, we’ve got them. What’s the disconnect? Why do you think people won’t make the switch?

Bit of a niche topic: I’ve been in TS/SCI processing for a Science/Tech/Weapons analyst position with the CIA for 3 yrs since I finished grad school in chemistry, but CIA positions are sort of set it and forget it since they can take so long. I’ve since been focused on a Patent Attorney track and am with a firm that will support me taking the patent bar/law school. If I get through processing and go to the CIA for some time, do you think would I be accepted back into patent law later on?

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I can easily transfer within my firm, but he’s having trouble pinning down public interest opportunities in Dallas.
