Disadvantages is burnout for me. My J1 is chill and if I didn’t have J2 I would have so much free time but J1 throws meetings on my calendar for any break. However, the money is unreal and we have saved 50k along with many home improvements all in cash. I won’t do this forever but hopefully can quit one of them once we save even more and learn to stop spending like I have two jobs lol

Advantages:
Ability to meet financial goals
Building new skills/working with new technologies
Ability to "test drive" companies/industries prior to making the full commitment

Disadvantages:
Burnout, if not managed appropriately

General notes:
Investment in technology for successful home office setup is going to be pivotal (monitors, mounts, switches, etc). I wouldn't call this a disadvantage, but certainly something to note.

The same way you would long term roles. Use sites like Indeed, LinkedIn, or even Dice to find contract roles. Most will list the length of the engagement, so you're looking for 9 months or less. No conversion into a FT position.

A long post: seeking some perspective. My husband of 2 years that I’ve been in a relationship with for more than 8 years just woke up one day and told me that he’s unhappy in our relationship. I’m devastated because he’s never expressed anything like this in the 8 years. He’s been super supportive and loving, even when we were in a long distance relationship. He supported my career and dreams and this just doesn’t make sense. We have gotten a counselor but things aren’t getting better. Comment>

I am wondering if I can do this. It feels daunting but also I’ve accepted an offer from another company but don’t know if it is what I want but I think I also don’t feel comfortable in my current situation. I wonder how long I could maybe do this but not sure.

Anyone have multiple FT jobs? I'm looking about to land a new primary FT job, as my current job is very very slow, doesn't really have any projects for me, and could end at any time (with a 30 day notice).
Where there any legal issues? (The two companies area in different industries so no competition). How did you manage both? The new company knows I'm still employed, should I quit the first or keep it as long as I can manage both? Any bad vibes or feelings of unprofessionalism? TIA

The first rule of overemployment is dont talk about overemployment to anyone outside your house. :). Second: always protect the main job. Third: As the main job always has the priority, the Second and third jobs must preferably be contract gigs with not too many meetings everyday. Remember: another day, another dollar.

I wish I was overemployed. Searching for gigs, but nothing yet. Any tips on how to get one or more extra jobs?

I really want to get a second job but I am scared of losing my current one. Both companies are in same field, although not direct competitors so I know it’s technically “not allowed” however, this is the only way for me to get that $$ since I am not paid all that well.

Of course I won’t tell a single friend/coworker. Only my partner. And I don’t post work stuff on social media.

Realistically what are the ODDS of being caught? Is there a legal/HR process with which they could find out??

I would like to hear from any UX Program Managers who are willing to share their experience.

How difficult is it to juggle a remote role with a hybrid role?

My current role is hybrid with at least two days a week in office. However, with the potential economic downturn, I'm considering holding on to the role to supplement my income.

I'm new to the overemployed movement, so I'm evaluating the feasibility of holding onto the hybrid role and the remote position.
