Let’s see who remembers their MPRE. Just found a position at my dream firm I would like to interview for; however, I was also just placed on a deal where dream firm is the opposite counsel. I don’t want my current firm to know I’m thinking of leaving in case I don’t, so asking for a conflicts waiver doesn’t seem feasible. But the deal won’t close until next year, so I doubt the position will be around if I wait that long. Any advice?

Enjoyed the people I interviewed with; my only hesitation is that the company itself has had a rough couple of years (healthcare company, had a few bad acquisitions that they’ve since shed off). I came into a hedge fund job as an analyst in February of this year and didn’t negotiate my bonus at the outset. I was coming from tech and needed a green card so didn’t have much room to do so.

With bonus season coming up, I have a feeling my PM is going to underpay me. Should I bring up the subject myself? Also, how do I get a sense of what I’m worth? I did not trade but was the main data guy and built a tool that is indispensable for our process. Is 10% of his cut of PnL reasonable?

I’m a strong performer with happy clients and high utilization but I never submit my time on time. Hoping it doesn’t affect my rating and bonus.

20 year road warrior here. My wife & I made it work through teamwork & commitment. My weekends were spent at home. Doing family things.

I know a guy who (pre COVID) traveled every week, yet found time to do 200 mile weekend biking trips with his ‘crew’. Almost every weekend.

His family vacations always seemed to include a 500 mile bike race or some other extreme event.
