What are the best skills an entry level employee can build to get into cloud security?

I’m really interested in cloud security and I have my CISSP and AWS Professional Certification. I have built several homelabs but I don’t have any client or real-world experience with cloud. I’ve also built DevSecOps pipelines for fun.

I know PwC cloud practice is completely saturated and searching for cloud sec. engineer entry level positions in industry. Any help is appreciated.

From your posting, you have the skills for an entry cloud security role. What you need to focus on now is networking to get a role. As a hiring manager, I can tell you entry-level roles are highly competitive at the moment. The sweet spot in the market at the moment is mid career, approximately 5 years of experience.

I would say that you have more than enough skills and interest. You really need to just get a role somewhere. I know that Accenture has a huge cyber security practice that is hiring in the North America market. Go search some of the job postings and you might find something.

How are you entry level if you have a CISSP?

Entry level because I have a lot of GRC/audit experience and some security tool implementation experience, but not a lot of client-facing cloud implementation experience.

So, I would be entry level in cloud security.

Message me privately. I’m an SM in our CloudSec group in our CR&R practice

Do you think you and your significant other should have similar personalities? My significant other and I are doing long distance and I feel like when I FaceTime with him, I emote more and show interest by asking more questions but from his end, he doesn’t always have a reaction or just nods, and it makes me feel like he’s uninterested. On his end he sees it as he’s comfortable.

At my uncles wedding in Madrid I remember lying down on the grass in the courtyard after their first dance and crying, my Dad came and saw me, laid down in his suit beside me and asked what was wrong.

“I know my boyfriend wouldn’t dance with me like that at our wedding”

And we just lay there as I cried, and then got up. Had a drink.

Said boyfriend left years ago, and now I have a wonderful man who just asked me what type of dance lessons I want for our wedding next year.

Don’t give up.

As more and more companies institute a work from home policy, I think it will gradually become the norm. As a 28 year old man who wants to settle down soon, which city would you recommend I look into, assuming me and my partner can work from home? I work in Cybersecurity so would prefer to be closer to the jobs in my field without having to live in the same city.
