McKinsey & Company Hey folks!
Was wondering what sort of life sciences projects does usually the Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Company take on?
Commercial, access and pricing, M&A, transformation, implementation? (all of them perhaps?)
Basically, what would someone with an LS background be mainly working on in these firms on a day-to-day basis?
Thanks!

Have worked at both - clients and project types are equivalent. Bain is larger and the incumbent at most funds. BCG is the challenger and has taken more share than Bain wants to admit. Stylistically Bain is more process driven while BCG leverages their deeper industry expertise more frequently.
Great reminder - there are also differences within the cultures.
Every Bainie will tell you how AWESOME Bain’s culture is. This culture is a product of an “institutional gaslighting” as one former Bain colleague put it. They consistently reinforce why Bain is better in every way than McKinsey or BCG. Bain struggles to acknowledge the strengths of McKinsey and BCG because it challenges their identity. It’s easier to identify as “Bain is the best” vs “Third largest MBB.”
On the flip side, BCG is the angsty intellectual. The answer always depends and must be deaveraged. Things tend to get over complicated and over analyzed.
