I think perceived value is different from intrinsic value… you may think you’re worth more… but based on the market place, you could be being paid accurately.

I guess that is true! However I haven’t had a pay rise in 3 years and have taken on so much more work. Not even a pay rise to match inflation!
Companies aren’t going to pay everyone based what employees “feel like”, they need to see proof of market value. Do you have proof that you “deserve” way more? What is that proof?
Okay 🤣
Negotiating a higher rate of pay needs to be done by siting and showing how you have in your roll benefited the company. If goals have been met, how did you do it faster, under budget, or exceed the expectations. Also, resurch your type of roll in with other companies and bring those pay rates with you.
You have to sell your self, no one is.going to do that for you. Don't come with feelings, come with facts. The worst thung the can day is no.
Confidence is key, of course. But you also need to come with facts and what you bring to the table. You need to have a strong argument for why you deserve that raise and you need tangible results of your work to support your argument.

Yeah I definitely lack confidence for sure. It’s my No.1 goal to focus on
I felt this way last year. I knew people were coming in being hired at a higher rate than what I was making, and I was upset about it. I went to my boss and advocated for a raise. I mentioned all of my accomplishments over the past year and everything I had done to add value to the team. She was able to get me a raise because she didn't want me to leave.
