Case studies don’t necessarily prove anything. They’re mostly overhyped puffery with fake results, made for award shows.
It’s hard for agencies to do social as well as agencies that did broadcast because it’s undervalued. For more than ten years social media has outperformed TV ads in impressions and frequency, and WE are the ones downplaying it to clients. Broadcast is too fragmented .
Yet It’s a bolt-on or loss leader still at many agencies. The good social leads don’t last long at agencies because they say so.
Now you see clients building in-house teams and paying them more. They still have a way to go, but The train is leaving the station.
HoS1 - there are still agencies that see social media as a novelty. “Let’s get the social person in here.” “What can you tell me about culture?”
I love working on TV spots but is no one looking at client budget?
Not sure if it was in house teams or agencies but some of the back and forth between McDonalds and Burger King a while back was clever.
