what do people think about kasowitz?

Think Quinn Emmanuel, but with less prestige, lower footprint, and a reputation more tied to Marc Kasowitz than Quinn to John Quinn. You can get good experience there, but expect to be worked hard, at least in litigation which is their main focus.

Read the Pro Publica article from 6 years ago or so. That's just the tip of the iceberg and stories they could verify. Lots more crazy things happened. Very big drinking culture. Lots of stuff that's not very woman friendly.

And, yes, I've been to The Palm

Had a friend who worked there in a support role and it was not good for them. A lot of shouting and despite what others have said very overt partisanship wrt very touchy subjects (Israel). Also anecdotally the lawyers I have known who have gone there have been sexist, but that could be a fluke

Great firm. Big Law “litigation boutique” seems to be the common tag. Mostly BL laterals + former prosecutors + some home grown. I left a v5 to join the firm and best decision I ever made. Capable juniors/mid-levels will get substantive experience that would otherwise be reserved for seniors/counsel/junior partners at other firms. You can expect to be holding the pen, on your feet and interfacing directly with clients on an accelerated timeline. Mix of big teams for matters/clients you’d see at any other BL firm + smaller matters for high-net-worth individuals, celebrities, c-suite, etc. Hours/ WL balance/comp is the same (or similar) as anywhere else in BL. People are generally pleasant, professional and great at what they do. Solid place to learn and grow.

Hi Marc!

Only heard of them in the context of reading quotes in the news about highly political representations (eg, Trump)

like

Great litigation firm with very generalist way of staffing. They have a rep for repping Trump for 5 min, but they aren't especially political

funny

Yes, they are very pro-Israel

Decent for entertainment talent representation.

USCIS say we “generally speaking shouldn’t file for it with more than 180 days in advance” – but I’m asking if there’s any harm in doing so. I don’t want my 2019 EAD nightmare to happen again.

Is the way to train managers changing? I’m familiar with a cohort model where a group of new managers meet in person, and then go through some classes together over a period of 2-6 months. Is there a better or new model that people are using?

JPMorgan Chase recently introduced a policy change to increase the notice period to 60 days. I'm a 602 and resigned recently and yet my LWD is showing up as 30 days from now. Anyone recently resigned can confirm if they are facing the same or new policy is in effect. This is causing confusion with the next companies I'm interviewing with.

Name the most ridiculous micro-managing by partners that you experience.

I’ll go first: MP told me that on initial emails, I am always to start with “Hello [name],” but after the initial email, I am not to address her by name again in the same thread. Initial greeting can only be “Hello [name] ” because just first name is too brisk and a “Hi [name]” is too informal. Had a 5 minute, in depth conversation as to why she prefers it this way…

I lateraled into a niche practice group in Sept 2021. I also have a 1 year old and have been mostly remote since I started - but have been keeping busy tracking towards 2400-2500 hours. That said getting to know people only remote has been kind of awkward at times (email only can be tough to decipher) although as a working mom the pros vastly outweigh the cons. Yesterday my main partner asked me to come in Thursday bc he will be there and set a time to meet. Is this good/bad?? kind of nervous!
