What do you all think about LinkedIn? I haven’t really kept my profile up to date but I have used it to connect with people I have worked with in the past. It seems like a lot of work to keep it updated and maintain a presence. For those who use it, is it worth the effort?

I feel like it’s worth to keep updated for people in tech and business and finance. I feel like it’s not as useful for medical people.

LinkedIn is the worst social media platform by far, which is saying a lot when Facebook and X exist. I spend maybe 5 minutes on there a month. I'll post an update when I have one and occasionally browse jobs, but that's the extent of my activity on the platform.

I always look at candidate's LinkedIn before interviewing them for a position.

I wish I could figure out a way to make LinkedIn productive. I always think maybe I'm not using it right, but I just don't see a way to really make it work for me. I've got a profile I spruce up now and then, but I mostly use it just to have some visibility. It's almost like it's weird not to be there, so you have to be there, but no one really finds it very useful.

It is definitely worth keeping up to date

For me, LinkedIn is fine because I can learn from their work experiences

It has some good and bad things just depends honestly

Maintaining a LinkedIn presence can be useful for visibility and networking. Even occasional updates and connections can lead to unexpected opportunities.

I have never found LinkedIn very useful. But then again, I am older, and maybe for the younger crowd, it is useful. I'm pretty old. I just found that out. I just realized that I graduated from pharmacy school the same year Google was founded.

I only use it when I am in between jobs and I wonder if that's what other people are doing too?

Hi all,

I would like to hear out your opinions on internal salary negotiations at the back of promotion.

I'm a Business Analyst with over 10 years experience, been in the same company for the whole time, Currently, I'm below Average Industry standards by approx. 10% for my (current) role.

I have applied for internal job which is effectively one level above, meaning it would be a promotion.

I got the job, awaiting offer.

I have been at my company for 3.5 years. One year ago (2.5 years into my employment with them) they re-leveled everyone and I was bumped to an entry level position on the terms that they changed my job title when they re-leveled, so “technically” I am at the early stages of my new title. Even though the job duties did not really change.
I’m not sure the best way to approach this. Has anyone else had a similar experience or know how I should advocate for myself?

💲For those who DON'T think a six figure salary is possible:

👉Just ask for it. Really, you would be surprised. Might be easier to switch to a new company and ask. I did that 3 years into my career.

It is my first professional health coach job & they did not require temps to have a coaching certification, but I have one. I’d like to know if temps could negotiate salary when given the job offer. The position is remote & I’d like $20/hr. I’ve invested in myself as a coach & plan to complete board certification by early 2023
