Hi there, I’ve been told that Deloitte (London, UK) is going to make me an offer but haven’t heard back and it’s been over two weeks. The recruiter mentioned it would be around the “m2 grade”. Any idea what this pay range is? … I have 3 YOE working in NHS finance and have applied for a position in Risk Advisory, public sector. Curious what life at Deloitte is like? Does a work life balance exist?

Salary’s and benefits slide and the ability to retain talent plummets (at least in government consulting). They can make for low systematic risk investments though. Good places to deploy a couple hundred million in capital. They also loose any mystic or prestige rate boosts they used to have due to the public reporting requirements.
Been at a private partnership (albeit as a non-partner) and now at FTI (public). So I don't understand all the partnership ins and outs, but I don't see being public as a disadvantage at all. I used to think it meant less comp since you had to split earnings with equity in addition to "partners" and staff but stock also allows the firm to compensate people / make acquisitions in a way that a partnership can't. As a non-partner, I think the comp is higher at the public co because there was this implied eventual goal of making partner dangled in front of you at the private firm. All firms have ways of locking people up, not being an owner hasn't proved to be a disadvantage.
