As a policeman, I don't think it's the right time for this move, because it seems to contrast Black Lives Matter with Blue Lives Matter, so it looks like just another fight, and I think that's enough.
It does more harm than good. It would be different if they were showing support for us because they want to support us. Instead, they are using us as the alternative to addressing social issues. They have associated supporting police with being racist. It's the last thing our public image needs.
As a general rule, I don't follow "movements" because they imply that something is a fad. I think it's obvious that police lives matter, so do black lives, so do accountants' lives, etc. Yes, they matter, who said they didn't...?
It makes people think about the sacrifices police make on a daily basis, which makes it good in my book
I recognize it as a stand-alone thing which says that yes, police officers are at risk in their jobs every single day, but to imply that "blue lives" are a thing just like black lives... I disagree with this part. Plus, I hate how it's become a symbol for hate in our country.
I think it is the best response to the ACAB movement, fighting hate with life is the best way to face a direct attack movement against the police.
