Doing anything because it makes you seem more professional is always the wrong reason. Further, doing Design Sprints for every feature is not how GV teaches their Google teams and investments because it is not necessary.
DS should be left for problems that are big or stuck. This, hopefully, is a small percentage of your work. Products are filled with many daily small decisions.

I agree with the alignment part, but totally disagree with the others. For example, most of the time, they involve PMs in the process, which I agree with. What I don't agree with is that they do that just so the PM dictates a flow that "needs to be done". I consider that it dilutes the role of a UX designer, but they continue explaining that it's not the UX job to do the flows, especially on very complex products.
There is no universal rule on how to split work between UXD and PM. You should be working together as a team bringing different perspectives, in any event.
