I have a $1,400 annual learning stipend, and looking for ideas on ways to spend it. Any suggestions on coding classes, digital subscriptions, conferences, etc? How have you spent your learning stipend in the past, or what are you planning to spend it on?

I’ve taken several courses from IDEOU that I’ve enjoyed! The ConveyUX conference recently happened - virtual, and pretty affordable. Definitely recommend future editions!

I graduated last year with a degree in political science and communication. I currently working at a software company where I onboard vendors unto our EDI system. I am looking to work in the legal field because that is where my passion lies. I have had a couple of experiences in a Legal setting, but nothing close to a full time role. Most of the legal assistant roles require you to have experience, but I can’t get the experience if I’m not given the opportunity. How do I pivot into a legal role?

Main considerations are money and WLB, especially weekends. I’d be curious to hear perspectives on WLB differences between the two either anecdotally or from people who have experienced both. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I work in insurance. I was working for an Allstate agent and was fired the day after my grandmothers funeral for being “unenthusiastic in our morning meeting”. Now I’m having anxiety searching for a job. I don’t think I want to sell anymore yet every single recruiter I interview with says I should, that I have a “salesperson mentality”. I’m burnt out. Has anyone else felt this way? How did handle it? Is there a different career path I can take or am I destined to sell insurance forever?

Hi everyone,

I’m in a pit of a pickle…I’m leading my very first project (case study) with a team of 5. We’re all in different countries and different time zones 😬

What do I need to include on the project plan/roadmap so there’s a clear understanding of what our goals are? How do I get everything to align for success and how do I keep everyone motivated?

Hello there!
I’m looking for any good recommendations around problem framing (books, resources, frameworks, etc.) What are you people doing to nail identifying product problems, before moving into shaping? Cheers!

I’ve had several great interviews with a few diff companies. Or rather, I thought they went well but then I get the dreaded “thanks but we made the difficult decision to move forward with other candidates”. I’ve asked for feedback but so far have gotten none.

I know it’s competitive out there, but I also don’t know how I can either position myself better, seek positions that are more aligned with my expertise/experience, or work on improving certain areas.

Any advice on how to proceed?

I'm currently working in Architecture working on transitioning into UX Design. I took a UX class through UCLA Extension for a quarter and so far (from a fairly objective view) I'm ahead of the game than the rest of my peers since I already have a lot of transferrable skills like software & design skills. I'm planning to take one more quarter of class. Will that be enough to put together a portfolio along with architecture pieces?

Is it normal for a Product Owner to lay out specs for how a feature should work?

I thought that was my job as the ux designer to figure out the best way to solve a need. But I’m getting handed projects where the PO, and sometimes the senior designer has laid out exactly what should happen (components used, flow, etc) to design a feature. It’s really frustrating because I don’t know if I’m supposed to be speaking up on what I think or just do the UI work I’m asked to.

I am struggling to find a job in UX, I received my Master's in UX Design from Kent State University last year with a 4.0 GPA but that doesn't seem to matter. I have applied to hundreds of posts with barely any replies back. My education has taught me a lot however I feel I need the work experience to be taken seriously. I have applied to many junior and intern positions with no luck. How do I break in to the UX field with an education but no job experience?

Hello UXers, PDs, and PMs….
Been considering looking into a Masters degree in CS.. looking to level up my career as my end goal is to be more in a product management role, staffs product lead role. In doing so, it seems that a much more technical background is preferred and requires to succeed.

Is the MS degree worth the $? Or is it just a fancy stamp to put on your LinkedIn?

All feedback and comments appreciated
