Thinking about leaving my position at Red Ventures as a Software Engineer, for an internship at AWS with potential to be hired full time. Right now I’m making 75-90k a year at RV but from what I hear at Amazon Web Services I could be making double. But I worry about the burn out at FAANG companies. Opinions? I feel my salary is pretty low for what I do.

If I get paid a lot and my name is never widely known, I'd be quite content
Purposeful work.
How about purposeful work plus reduction of current pay by 30%
Happiness. It's the root of everything. What's money prestige and balance good for if you aren't happy.
Purpose, passion, enthusiasm, loyalty, ethics, friendship
I need both pay and passion. If I hate my work you can't pay me enough to do it.
Learning new things. It’s really about having (intellectual) fun and growing. Is that hokey?
It’s a formula not a race with winners and ranks
As mentioned above someone take less pay for a better worklife balance for more meaningful work and those who are doing mundane repetitive work will take more money to compensate for that mediocrity. Some folks like McKenzie mentioned are there to get maximum dollars at any cost for a short time and then leverage that into a better situation Prestige/fame no thanks most of the trade that for influence and power
And not the dominating type power instead the power to be able to make decisions, have the resources and Pull to make it actually happened. I think the real dilemma is when all of these things are just pretty good having courage to put that at risk to try to raise the whole bar formula up a notch Across-the-board
Getting properly rewarded for performance.
Pay! 💰
Doing "interesting work"
Probably wlb and pay, but with a bare minimum floor for prestige. I know people who make more running a business but being able to say I work for the firm I do, doing the things I do... I probably wouldn't give that up to be a rich plumber or head hunter, etc
The life and drive of mountain climber Alex Honnold is a fascinating study on the deep motivations fueling him. It sheds light on my own motivations for career, mental toughness, taking on challenges, preparedness, game face, managing fear, etc.
