I’m joining a firm in June as an MBA new hire. They just emailed to tell me my job is safe for now, but if things continue to spiral downward that I may not have a job. How worried should I be?

You should be exploring other options.

What case scenario you have to bow out of one opportunity, not ideal, but part of the current reality.

If you do end up with another offer, do your diligence on the book of business and pipeline. Try to assess their resilience. Choose something that is likely to survive a sluggish economy for a couple years.

Firms are focusing on avoiding layoffs. If rescinding accepted offers ultimately means retaining current talent, it may be an option that’s used. So yes - start working on Plan B.

10 years in the company where I started, working my way up from jr. analyst to present Manager M2 - Market and Tech Insights (5 levels), handling 2 major global tech/consulting clients. Next level is Sr. Manager.

I'm at Kolkata. Started off with 1.8LPA, currently around 11LPA. BTech+MBA. Always get scores of 4 out of 5 (exceeds expectations) KRA YoY and pointless praises about how well I managed projects, yada yada. I get good work-life balance.

Is this fair pay or am I exploited?

Hi all, I recently purchased a commercial property at WTC, Noida. As I look to grow my portfolio, I spoke to my consultant to see if I could get better prices. He worked with the sales folks at WTC and said that if multiple buyers come in, he could work out a deal. Wanted to check if anyone is interested? I could potentially get him to set up one-on-ones to help explain the commercial real estate market. Even if this property doesn’t seem interesting, I think an interaction wouldn’t hurt.. contd

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
