What does the distribution of bonus tiers look like at PwC? Does it seem like a black box who gets what tier or it seems like a meritocracy?

I work for a late stage(ipo) start up, earlier this year we were acquired & since then they got rid of our yearly bonuses and gave us an ESOP grant.
2 RIFs later we are almost bare bones. Since we are coming up on our usual yearly evaluations many of us assumed (with multiple conversation from our managers) that pay raises and promotions were due.
In a recent All hands we found out that this year there will be no pay raises nor promotions based off merit. Is it time to jump ship?

I’ve been with my current company for a little over 5 years now and since the start of the pandemic have been WFH. I absolutely love WFH and have always wanted a position in which I could WFH. There is talk of bringing everyone back to the office full time and that’s not what I would like to happen. I’ve been searching for a new position in which it would be a remote role. One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.

I have been an associate for 3.5 years. Going for a record here :). Hope I don’t get promoted so I can hit 5 years as an associate. Seems like a number no one can beat.

Hi, I have been working in a neo-bank scale up for the past year. I’m getting paid relatively well with stock options that vest over 4 years. There are also talks internally about the company potentially IPO-ing in the next 1-2 years.

I just got an offer from a smaller startup who are giving me a 20% increase over what I’m currently getting, but they are unlikely to be publicly listed anytime soon.
