Toughest rank in all of consulting and even more so at Deloitte. Best part of being an SM is the day you get promoted or leave.

likeuplifting

The easiest way (apart from internal promote) to get a SM role is to have a partner recommendation

In fact if you want to last the first year you probably need one - because they will feel some loyalty to helping you establish a network and getting billable. It's brutal as an SM with no network and no recurring client revenues

Help - how do I fight claims by scammer healthcare providers?

I recently went to 2 different providers.

Dentist, made appt via Zocdoc to see a dentist that was in network. Another dentist at the location saw me instead who was out of network. I have text evidence they said it would be covered before visit. Claim was denied - asking for ~500 dollars.

Saw a specialist who’s office staff verified my insurance would fully cover the claim. Get the claim, says they are out of network. Owe 600.

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)

Anyone else scroll through LinkedIn and constantly feel behind in their career? Everyone I know is exiting from MBB to VC/PE and I’m still making peanuts at Big 4. How do you deal with knowing you’re mediocre/less sharp?

like

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
