As a suggestion, it could be helpful to ensure you are aware of how messages can be received. BCG as a whole doesn’t put up with condescension. There’s a couple BCGers who have given advice already on this thread. Yes, I made a joke but followed it up with a question designed to give you more specific help.
Things such as “can someone give me a straight answer” when you literally were given a specific number by a BCGer does not come across super well.
This is fishbowl. But if this carries over into real life, it probably won’t work out for you at BCG
Sounds like the classic difference between big4 and big 3 regarding cultural development
@OP: best of luck in your interview process.
I am trying to provide advice. Reverting to name calling: “you’re a joke” tends to not be part of BCG’s values
Also base isn’t really relevant. Total comp is much more important (bonuses are transparent/reliable). From PL1 to P4, that ranges from 270-550k base/bonus/retirement. Free healthcare for the family is on top of that
Can someone give me a straight answer? I’m interviewing with BCG and currently in discussions on placement. I’m with a Big 4 firm.

In reality, from your first day as a PL to last day as a principle is a 6 year gap. Your salary changes dramatically over that time period. It’s not easy to give anything more concrete without knowing more
I’m asking for the base salary on day 1 for each role.
I’m told it’s a specific number. Problem is it just got increased and public info doesn’t look accurate
Thanks BCG5
To clarify, a big chunk of that range (>$100k for P4) is the difference between avg and rockstar individual performance but you know throughout the year how you’re tracking.
Ask whomever you’re in discussions with regarding placement. Or your HR/recruiting POC. The base salary and bonus ranges for each year at each level are something they can easily provide. In fact, they are very transparent about it when you get an offer. You’re going to get a much better answer from them rather than from a bunch of randos on here...
Thanks! Having my placement conversation with a bunch of partners tomorrow. I’ll keep you updated
