Know the industry. It makes no difference how skilled you are at your work. You won't advance very far if you can't attach it to the business's bottom line or apply it to how to make it better.
You don't know what you don't know. You won't actually be aware of the gaps in your knowledge unless they are pointed out to you, so make sure you are open to learning everything you can.
Be nice to everybody. Particularly in writing. It's impossible to predict who will be connected to whom, what information you'll need, or who will be speaking with the hiring manager at your next dream job.
Choose your circle. Avoid interacting with or being connected with unpleasant and whiny people. In addition to the effect on career, it promotes negativity at work. Associating with negative people makes working more unpleasant than it needs to be.
Beginning to feel at ease at work typically takes a year. Remember that no one ever understands everything right immediately, and simply keep learning.

Trust your gut. If something doesn’t feel right but you are being told to do it anyway, have a paper trail for backup.
