Was an employee for 10 years, today I finally asked for a promotion and my boss said yes. I'm over the moon! Cheers!

Congrats

Can you share what were your thoughts or what you said for some people that might not have the courage or the words

Woohoo! Congratulations.

Congratulations

I bet after 10 years you absolutely deserved it! Congratulations.

Congrats on the promotion! Sounds like you've worked hard for it :)

You earned it! Congrats!!!

A light at the end of the tunnel? Seriously?!?! Well done! This is a wonderful encouragement for the rest of us.

Your first post in a Sr. position... very good news indeed! I am certain that you have put in a ton of work for the new position, good job.

YES, very happy for you! Just goes to show that loyalty can still be valued nowadays. It's good that your boss can see the potential you have for growth, a lot of people in this industry (or many others) are stymied by their managers who don't want them to move onward and upward.

Mentioned to my boss this week that I had reached burnout & that I was beginning to consider my options. I have received offers recently 50K above what I make now & communicated that. On Friday they said their boss would be touching base with me next week. I am in above average standing with the company & received a good annual raise earlier this year. The issue is I took the job below my market value to get out of a much worse job 2 years ago. Realistic outcomes for my upcoming meeting?

I’m intrigued but I want to know 2 things:
1. Culture/WLB - how is it?
2. Realistic market opportunity/opportunity to crush quota (obv dependent on many things)

Background: Currently making 95k/160k OTE at a boutique research and consulting firm. I’m happy but we’re extremely flat with little to no opp for promotion in the next 2+ years.

I was hired within the last year as a site supervisor. I did well my first few projects with the company. They asked if I’d be interested in transitioning into a construction manager role. I agreed. Now I still am the site supervisor on projects but I’m also doing all the construction manger duties on the project as well. Essentially 2 jobs for one salary. We have yearly reviews in December but no talks of raise have been discussed. Any help on approaching this to my boss?

Hello all, I’m planning for a career switch. As I’m currently in Finance sector and planning to quit my job and to start my career in IT Hardware companies like: HP, Dell and Lenovo etc.. Before taking this jump I want to know how is the career growth in IT Hardware, how is the promotion structure in such companies. I personally don’t like my present job as it doesn’t relate any part of my interest.

I was just asked to relocate to a different city. The move will come with a raise and promotion, but I'm conflicted. I enjoy where I live right now and I like being close to my family. Would love some advice.

Assessing whether I’m being compensated fairly after being passed over for pay raise request. Every BD in the US got a raise. 5 years of experience as a BD. I am now the only person managing BD for the whole of Canada for several service lines. US based finance related company. I report to one manager & the CEO. No commission, just salary and bonus. Been here for almost 2 years and we’ve doubled employees and are opening multiple offices. What would the appropriate compensation be for my role?

Any Financial Solutions Advisors out there? What is the pay like and how do you like your job?
I currently work as an Investment Solutions Rep at Fidelity making $55k plus about $12-15k in bonuses. A recruiter reached out about the FSA position and it sounds like a sizeable raise, but is it an enjoyable position? What exactly do you do? How difficult are the metrics?

Mid level Electrical Engineer in the greater Baltimore, MD area making $115k base w/ $20k sign on bonus. No yearly bonus. I started this job in April of this year. 2-3 years experience. When I onboarded they told me to expect promotion to EE III in about a year. Performance reviews coming at the end of the this year and I’m wondering 1) if my salary is on par with what I should expect 2) how to approach conversations about raises and promotion with my supervisor. Thanks for any insights.

It’s very discouraging to continuously receive these rejection emails. With 9 years of supply chain experience, I am not sure why I would not be able to at least get an interview for entry level roles that require no experience. Not just this one pictured but others as well. I’ve applied to maybe 60 positions since May, both mid level and “entry” and no interviews. I’ve had my resume professionally re-written twice. Not sure where the disconnect is. Anyone else going through this same thing?
