Considering leaving my biglaw job to pursue my (less lucrative) passion. The reality is that such passion may not work out as a long term career. What are the odds of being able to move back to a law firm after leaving the practice for a year or two? I’m assuming it’s frowned upon, but wondering just how much. And no, I can’t start doing the passion on the side while working at the firm, I would need to move and make a lot of changes to make it happen.

Hi everyone. I started to work in this company (first paid job) one year ago. In this year I performed well, met the goals and gave an impact to whole team from social point of view. I think my current salary is ok, but I am considering asking for a small raise now, after one year has passed. The increase would not change my life but would make me appreciated and valued. Is it too early to ask for a raise or it’s legit? I have a very good relationship with my boss and I don’t want to fuck up.

Info: cost of living has increased 6.6% in that time, and a posting within my company is over 15% higher than my salary for an entry level position. But I've also heard that 8% is the highest you should ask for, so Im not sure

I have over 12 years in B2B sales/sales management experience along with a graduate degree. I am wanting to shift gears and I am at a point where I can invest time in myself to learn through practical experience. The new industry I am wanting to pursue is real estate investment. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?

Last year, I negotiated my salary since given what my job responsibilities turned into, I was underpaid. COO offered an increased salary, I said I was hoping for this higher number according to my research so he went up a bit more (not reaching what I asked for) and guilted me for it.
An anonymous doc where coworkers entered their job info and salaries got passed around and even with my negotiated salary, I'm still getting paid less than peers in similar positions.
Any advice moving forward?
