Job seasons aren't really a thing anymore. It is very industry, and company-specific. With the current job market being as bad as it is, you might find yourself job hunting over many seasons before you finally get an offer. The best time to start is now.

very fair. starting now!
I disagree with the previous comments…There are seasons. We are in a good window right now (from an employer standpoint). As an example, People are less likely to be searching for jobs about a month before Labor Day because they want to enjoy the last little bit of summer and it’s right before school starts. The candidate pool shrinks again before Thanksgiving because the holidays are stressful and most importantly people don’t wanna miss out on their end of the year bonuses.
What you are referring to has less to do with “Seasons,” it’s about the job market. When jobs are harder to come by, it’s not a great time to negotiate because there are so many other candidates who will accept the pay as it is.

super interesting perspective - that makes sense, esp with budgets being reset at the beginning of the year and companies thinking through roles / what to post then
I just say go for it whenever. It'll never be the perfect time, companies are hiring all year round. The worst time is probably the holidays but even then, they will review your application when they get back after their time off.

There is no job season. People change careers daily because of a myriad of factors.. if you are unhappy or otherwise ready to make a change, start looking. Searching job boards, submitting resumes, and even interviewing is not a commitment to change jobs, you can say "thanks but no thanks" at any point along the path.

I like this philosophy a lot. I feel like it could eat up a lot of my time if I am truly trying hard at all times, but doing it on the back burner consistently seems like a great compromise!
The season will last for the entire presidency in the United States
