Consultant 3, My point is that racism and violence should not be tolerated at all, especially in the United States. We should be working together to promote change not commit crimes. Deloitte, you know what I meant. You can’t compare the Boston Tea Party to what’s going on now. It would be like we we are fighting a war in Afghanistan, so we go attack Brazil. It doesn’t make sense.

The fact is that it’s got us talking. I’m not a proponent of violence, but it is not what we should be focusing on. They are a small minority and potentially not even vandalizing for the cause. Don’t allow yourself to be drawn away from the real issue. And that is that a subset of our community has been marginalized and oppressed and it needs to end. No amount of rioting diminishes that fact.

Yes. And also, even if it did represent the whole(which it absolutely doesn’t) it doesn’t take away from the fact that a subset of our community have been oppressed and do not enjoy the same liberties as others.

Rioting is part of American culture. Revolution time
Alls well that ends well. What people miss in the present is the power of hindsight - we look back fondly on things like the American Revolution, but it was way messier. If we get real change out of this round of protests, then people will likely forget the looting or remember it as a heroic act of rebellion. If we don’t get change, people will either forget it or remember it as a cowardly act of anger. History is just a story we tell ourselves.
