What is the biggest career risk you are willing to take next year. Staying safe did not move my life the way I thought it would. 2026 feels like the year to be bold. What are you choosing?

I was bold last year and it didn’t work out. Ended up returning to my prior employer that I had initially left because I thought I was selling myself short. Turns out the grass isn’t always greener

I am getting barred through reciprocity in New York. I’m wanting to make a big move from the West coast to the East coast market. Feels like it has the potential to really shake things up for me and my family. Big risks are terrifying! My fingers and toes are crossed that the stars line up how I’m hoping.

Congratulations to both of you and best of luck!

I love this post and I definitely agree with you. 2026 is the year to be bold becaus nobody is going to make moves for you. I am looking for a new job in this new year and I am not willing to settle.

Knowing how aggressively AI is taking people's jobs I decided to re open my own company again
I'm not going to work for pennies or wait to be told ; your position is no longer needed
Knowing how expensive everything is $80,000 a year is a minimum to sustain an average life style
Having more than one business that produces income is also a must
So my bold moves are going to be ; taking action towards my own success without even thinking about contributing time and energy into somebody else's company

Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. That was 1.5 years ago and I am still in the limbo of juggling my own workload + doing assistant roles for my supervisors. I have also had no increase in pay, which is a huge deal for me. Is this normal in the entertainment world? Any suggestions?

They told me to focus on contract management, which I have been doing for the past year.
