Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

We have the same goal, although I'm hoping to find one well before summer. The lack of organizational support has left me feeling completely undervalued and burnt out. I've put up with it to the best of my ability, but at this point, I need a change.
Mine are too. I've been trying to get back into working out consistently and eating healthier, because I know I feel better mentally when I'm in better shape physically. The hard part is forcing myself to follow through on it when all I want to do during my non-working hours is sleep.
Mine is too keep my job!

Same. I could do better with my coping skills to manage anxiety + depression.
I would like to find a part time remote job in Mental Health. Because of being disabled, I have a Bachelor's degree only. My areas of experience include a Hotline and a Warmline, Facilitation of groups in Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Corrections. I also have at least 10 years of individual counseling. I have been Clean from Opiates and Alcohol for 47 years, Cigarette free for 39 years, 15 years free from Bulemia and 3 months free from Binge Eating. I utilize 2 different schools of thought for my Recovery. Smart Recovery and other 12 step programs for decades. Thank you for your time and any leads for jobs that fit my experience and College studies would be greatly appreciated.
Why do you hate to be like this? i think having a goal for a new job is totally a legitimate goal for the year, and I've been thinking about doing the same. I know I am capable of earning more and I need to in order to keep up with rising cost of living. The non-profit space is totally behind in competitive salaries, so sadly I might end up leaving behind the traditional non-profit type orgs I've worked for the in the past

Thank you for the reframe! I think a big part of my anxiety is the rising cost of living as you mentioned…. And then the incoming administration and how that may affect non profits, healthcare, medicaid… people of color...the underserved…. I feel like Eeyore but it would be a lie to say this isn't a daily/weekly worry of mine
I feel so unmotivated and lazy saying this, but I haven’t really thought about my career goals for 2025 yet and I’m not sure what my next steps in my career even are so I’m just kind of lost. I’m glad so many people have so many goals in mind I just I don’t know where to begin anymore.
Mine is to find a new job as well. I have been looking for 6 months now and haven't had any luck. I was really hoping that maybe by some miracle the job market would get better this year and I could finally land something. Heres to hoping we both find new roles.
