We are a small HS. 200 students 9-12. Our shops are nice but kinda small. Average class size is probably 15. We try to keep a cap at 18 students. We have a wood shop, metal shop and a auto/robotics shop.
I base my numbers on PPE per student, and number of devices for each student. My welding class caps at 14 as I only have 14 machines. Intro to Construction caps out at 12 students and construction trades at 12 as well. I find the larger the class in construction, the less productive the class is.
We have 16 certification programs. Class sizes vary program to program. A few have 25+ while others are capped out at 16.

Contractually, in NYC, it’s supposed to be a maximum of 28, but really often maxes it at 32. I personally have 30.
