I’ve seen a lot of org strategy, customer strategy and operating model work especially in healthcare in pharma. Have also seen really solid product management opportunities.
WLB changes based on your seniority and expertise. Don’t expect it if you’re a senior leader, expert, or key player in large scale implementations and also expected to lead sales and practice initiatives. Negotiate HARD for base increase because 3 years later you’ll realize you’re getting paid less than people below you. Promotion process can be frustrating especially if you’re aggressive about career growth due to lack of transparency. I’ve worked in really great projects with amazing people but I’ve also worked in some very toxic situations where it was sink or swim. It’s the card you get dealt. Keep in mind, the fact that so many B4 people join slalom especially in leadership roles means that they bring that attitude with them, it does not change overnight.
Caveat: everything I said above is team and office dependent. Some are way worse, some are way better.
Rising Star
We’ve got our hands in everything, but what you’ll have available to you highly depends on the office.
I will say that I’ve seen a lot of Pharma and Finance work in multiple offices (including mine).
I will also add that in my experience, we give very generous offers for experienced hires. Oftentimes people get huge bumps coming here from Big 4 and Accenture. It’s the raises once you get here that are the problem :).
I will say WLB and culture are phenomenal.
