This is accurate for bad agencies, I think, but there’s also the “good” agency variety of sweatshop, where they bank on their reputation for awards or being a hot shop or whatever and have this toxic idea that the only way can do good work is to be obsessed with advertising, prioritize it over everything else and work til midnight
I don’t know what makes a place a sweatshop but in your last paragraph you pretty much described my agency.
if you have to ask, you're not at one.
I've had points in my career where I was working 90 hours a week plus doing pitches and managing people. If you're doing the work of more than 1 person and the company thinks that's normal... that's a sweatshop
