I am surprised by the answers here. Most of them seem to be related to “money”.
If your goal is to make lots of money, why don’t you go start your own company? Probably easier to get rich that way seeing how pretty much any decent start-up secures funding these days…
The vast majority of startups fail, so risk aversion may spur people to keep a good-but-not-amazing 6 figure job than attempt to get rich via entrepreneurship. And that's before the idea and hard work needed to get there. By contrast, a corporate job is readily laid out (clear campus recruiting programs, work almost spoon fed to you by a big company).
