Don’t think any of my work clothes are under $300/piece. Got a really nice bow blouse from Kate spade and Hugo boss has a lot of nice pencil skirts that fit thinner. I’m a bit more curvy so I love theory. Brooke’s brothers also has occasional hits but I find it’s a bit too old schoolteacher conservative sometimes. Ted baker also has some good finds. What I do is get the complementary stylist at Nordstrom to pick things out for me. It’s faster and you get a second opinion. I don’t like to play around when it comes to workwear.
That being said I still wfh so it’s lululemon bottoms lately.
“Mall” stores, more affordable: Zara, Ann Taylor, Express, Antonio Melani (at Dillard’s), Banana Republic, shockingly Abercrombie, J. Crew, White House Black Market,
Better for staples (pricier): Theory, Brooks Brothers (though I think I heard they stopped their women’s clothing?), Vince, Ted Baker, Massillon Dutti (quality has declined lately though I believe), Everlane, Acne Studios
I’d recommend figuring out what you want first, if you don’t know, get some basics like trousers, skirts and a couple blazers at the cheaper places. Consider a service like Rent the Runway to figure out nicer brands or potential staples to buy from those brands (name brand does not equal high quality). Keep in mind you can also shop your own closet to start, so start with buying the basics and go from there!
Abercrombie does have some cute jackets right now!

Can you let me know which comment I edited/deleted? All my comments are still there as it is
theory? a bunch of sales going on now
I went to theory today and picked out one beautiful blue shirt, tried it on and loved it. Then I looked at the price and that was the end, it costs $350. It should go down to like $60 for me to buy, can’t see that happening. But thanks for sharing, appreciate the experience
I've found some great items at Thred Up. It sells second hand items but I find lots of items that are brand new with the tags still on (you can search for new condition items only if you want). They sell high end brands for huge discounts. If you want, you can use my referral link for $10 off your order. For full disclosure, I think I get $10 off too. https://www.thredup.com/r/QMDYK4

EM1, You don't. Especially not publicly to strangers. There's no reason to say it. Treat humans as individuals.

Have you tried marketplaces like poshmark.com (geared towards men and women, several similar ones) and Grailed.com (geared towards men). You can find all the designer names under the sun for 80% - 90% off the msrp buying New With Tags and Gently Used clothes instead of buying straight from the retailer, and most of these sites have legendary buyer protection policies.
This sounds weird to the uninitiated, but I do it all the time with great success. Today I'm wearing Burberry shorts that arrived new with tags that retail for $550, but I got them on Grailed for $33, negotiated down from $47.
Unless I wanted something very particular or didn't feel like putting in the effort, I don't see why people wouldn't do this, especially young professionals who want to dress smart and look good on a budget.

Ann Taylor Sale, Banana Republic Factory.
Dongdemeun market in Seoul 😆
Happy to visit if I get deployed on a project that needs traveling to Seoul. That would be wonderful!!
H&M always smart sets at affordable prices. Perfect if you won't need to use the items much, though ofc not a sustainable brand.
