As a woman, I keep pushing higher for the principle. Never satisfied, but not chasing a number, I’m chasing a role. Currently at $450k TC in Tennessee.
So when I did the research it also had a split of men and women in the 1% range. It found that 73% were men and 27% were women, so definitely appreciate the sentiment for pushing higher.
I’m happy with $60k. Anything past that just gets saved.
I am a child
I am pretty happy now to be going from $110k ($130k all in) to $200k ($250k all in), but I’m guessing that in a few years I’ll start getting that feeling that I could make more elsewhere.
I think a nice HOUSEHOLD income would be $400k, I need my spouse (or my 5 year old child) to step it up!
Just started at a big tech consulting (enterprise strategy) right out of undergrad, I’m 22, 1st year TC should be under 90k. Seems like a huge number but I aim to reach 300k ish by 30. May or may not stay at my current company. Any words of advice highly appreciated!
“Happy” to me is relative. It’s being appreciated and compensated commensurate with your impact.
In my current role, I’m around $400k, but those in similar roles & impact in the industry are around $500-650k in comp. That’s where I need to be.
it’s not just about the money, it’s about accomplishing goals, staying motivated, rewarding yourself, being able to be present w your spouse and kiddos. hit 1M last year and renewed goals for 1.2. will renew again once hit that target.
Very happy at my low 200k cash comp, in terms of the pay. I live happily on this pay and can still save a lot.
In terms of my work, I’m not happy.
I think it’s important to separate the two. I tell myself if I made 300-400K for the same work I’m currently doing, I’d be happy, but it would just be temporary.

Important differentiation and nice awareness
Is everyone here with a $300k+ in consulting? I’m just trying to break the $150k mark but my end goal is to make a high number like that as well. Just curious which verticals everyone is in so I know where I should set my sights!
I think of it in terms of net worth rather than yearly income. My number is $30mm
I think I'd be happy with 200k. Live off 100k per year, invest 100k. Assuming my spouse brings some money and we can take vacations on that. No kids in our future either.
More like make 200k, taxes are 66k
I’m at 350k right now and I’m more then fine
Single parent in MCOL & am currently at 125K. Wouldn’t mind 200K. I could save more.
200k = 3x the median income in my area. I’d be more than happy with that for what I do but I agree with others the stress or the higher paying jobs is not always worth what Citi offers in compensation.
I just want to break 100k again

I wish I was discussing numbers like that. I've done pretty well I guess to be earning right around $100k but I think my ceiling is lower because of pretty severe ADHD. After twenty years I thought I'd be so much higher than I am, I'm capable but it's hard (and exhausting) to overcome the perceptions that come with being neurologically divergent. I think at this point I'm just hoping to eventually make it to $150 some day.
I am happy at my current salary. I get paid appropriately for my role. At my current rate i know that if I am not happy at my current salary then the salary isn’t the problem.
