What NYC based big law firms have no hours requirements? I’m tired grandpa.

If you honestly think that no hours means you will work less, then I have a bridge to sell you.

The bridge to more or the same high level of hours

Outside of the obvious ones — Cahill, Proskauer, Freshfields.

Proskauer used to enforce an unwritten hours requirement for bonus. Not sure if they still do.

You don’t want no formal hours requirement - you want a clear formal requirement that is low (1500 to 1800 hours). Cravath and Wachtell have no formal hours requirement but they both make sure everyone is billing 2500+.

Some mid law firms only require 1800. To get below that you’d probably need a reduced hours arrangement (pay cut).

Any normal biglaw firm will ensure you are generally billing 2000+ regardless of whether they admit to having requirements.

Most helpful response by far. Thank you so much!

I’m at Willkie and don’t know a single person who would hit 2500 hours! From what I’ve been told, the average billables each year is lower than every minimum billable hour requirement I’ve heard of
