Applying this fall with the following stats
6 YOE (1.5 in big 4 audit, 4.5 transaction advisory at middle market advisory firm)
3.9 GPA at Midwest state school
GMAT Focus: 665 (94th percentile)
Extracurriculars: part time internship with search fund (former client), alumni treasurer for undergrad fraternity

Goals transition to private equity/IB post-grad

Have you seen women wear ties and "masculine"-looking suits to work? Was it accepted by client and team? I've never worn a tie to work, but when I've worn clothing that had a more "masculine" fit either in grad school or some work environments, I've gotten comments and looks, or sometimes asked (or people gossiped) about my orientation. When I wear more "feminine"-looking clothing, I feel more more uncomfortable and awkward. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I got Medical Reimbursement of around in current month salary, but I don't think I had applied any bill or submitted any such amount. Can someone tell what exactly is this amount for?

Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."

Should I take more initiative? It’s my stub year and I’m getting worried. Happened to me with Mindtree recruiter, for an IoT leadership position where the interviewing VP chose to no show twice… after which I thanked the recruiter that I was impressed by their book of busi-ness and that it was intimidating to be thinking about the prospect of working for Mindtree… as I’m too incapable for those performance standards… 😂😂

When would be the right time for me to get an MBA given my background?

I was a teacher for 4 years and transitioned into the corporate world. I have 6 months experience in marketing and that’s what I currently do, but plan for a lateral move in the future. I’ve seen suggestions of 3-7 years experience - does my teaching experience factor in? Or should I consider the 3-7 years only of my corporate time? Or is an MBA sooner a good move because of my big career transition (and future lateral)?

Once you've been accepted, can it be revoked if you decide to quit your job? Or to put it another way, barring acts of infamy/legality/stupidity, is there anything I could do that would endanger my acceptance once received?

I kind of want to spend some time with family and travel a bit before an mba and if I get notified in Dec, I'd like to use the time I have in between on myself. I'm fine with losing out on pay, I made some smart investments that money is not the primary issue.

How would you recommend improving this profile for GSB?

HYPSM ug in econ, 3.7gpa, GRE 169v/163m. 4 years exp (age 25) on matriculation (2 MBB, 2 int development). No promos.

ECs: founded social enterprise, journalism (on health, environmental inequities etc) at top pubs, published academic research, 4 yrs volunteering as advisor for social entrepreneurs. Recs good not amazing.

ST career goal = social impact VC; LT = social entrepreneurship.

My long term goal is to go back to consulting more of a business advisor from a strategy perspective

Would MBA be any good for me especially looking at strategy side?
I don’t want to spend $200K and would probably go online MBA in a mid tier school. Are those any good?

How does it work to defer Wharton admission?

MIT Sloan ($$$) vs. GSB (no $)? Post MBA goal is MBB or FAANG PM.

Are part time students allowed to recruit for jobs with full time students ? Asking for top schools T15 etc

Does an MBA (US) make sense for me? Male, Indian, Age 32, Married working in tech consulting with 10 YOE. Base is $165 with steady increases and bonus is typically 15%. I eventually do want to cross the $300K threshold but I know stopping work for 2 years and getting and MBA probably won’t get me a $300K job right away. Becoming a manger in my current company/path will probably get me there in terms of TC. Also considering EMBA from a good school (Wharton Global, Duke, Kellogg, Booth).

Is it possible to get into HSW? Thinking down the line of applying - went to Princeton for UG and currently working in IBD for a not too well known investment bank. 750 GMAT 3.8 UG GPA.

Worried I just won’t get a look or judged too hard if I’m not coming from a top tier banking firm (messed up my summer internship and it’s haunted me since) - how much does that matter of prestige of bank vs the industry you’re working in and what’s the best advice in being able to go to HSW?
