What time tracking software do you like? I’m at a small firm where we have Clio but I don’t love it. Very interested also in tools that can hoover up emails and documents to generate time records.

I’m not having harmful thoughts but I’m so sad and scared I wake up in the night crying. It makes me tired and I can barely focus. Ideas?

I have passed the technical interview in Capgemini and HR has called for Salry negotiation , after that HR said that offer letter is in process.
Now HR called and was asking aren't you interested in the offer , HR said that client tried to contact you but you werent responding.
But I didnt receive any call from anyone ..
What is this client call ?
Is the process normal ?
Like I have heard the client calls would be after joining the organization .

How normal is it to be pulled off a trial team because you tell your boss you are moving after trial? I have a trial coming up first week of Oct. This case has been my baby, and I’m going to try it with my boss. I tell my boss up front that, for family reasons, I’ve gotten a new job and will be moving to another city two weeks after trial will likely end. He then gives my trial witnesses to another attorney, but is still going to make me do grunt work. Is he unreasonable or am I?

Does anyone run a business in addition to their firm? I’m a solo and I’m doing pretty well with about 60-70 billable hours a month. Though that leaves a lot of downtime. Has anyone received equity as contingency comp? I have a potential client with a founders dispute. He doesn’t have cash, and the other founder ripped him off and is now running the company. He wants to sue for equity and wants to pay me with whatever equity he wins. I’ve never done a deal like that. Is that even enforceable? CA law. The startup is actually quite promising.

Young solo here w/ a question about fees: 1. A local solo criminal defense attorney has offered to pay me to go and make appearances before the Court on some of her cases to make announcements. (For example, “ready when reached”). I’m open to doing this and this attorney is asking what my fee would be? 3 attorney firm. I’ve been here for 6 years and have used Westlaw exclusively. Now we are switching to Lexis because apparently Westlaw is too expensive. I hate change. I know where everything is on Westlaw and now I need to relearn. Apparently Westlaw will not budge on price and would rather just see a client leave than work with them. Super annoying. Any insight on negotiating Westlaw or transitioning to lexis?
