I'm a senior individual contributor, and while my direct boss doesn't expect me to be available, it seems like the department head does. Many people in our department have something in their OOO notification like, "if you need to reach me, text me at ...". To me, that misses the point entirely!

So, I just joined a startup. No processes, no clear strategy, just one goal: selling. Getting leads. When ever I try to build a strategy, they (founders) swamp me with blablabla stories and not a single action plan. Is this the usual at startups? Also,no real company culture. At all. No HR. I’ve been working for my State Farm agency as a team member for 2 years. I am licensed in property and casualty as well as life and health, but only make $13 an hour. I technically can make bonuses but I’m not supposed to dig into a sale and I have to send it to a sales rep (I am service and retention mostly). My boss also has me running a retired agents office until a new one is chosen (its an hour away with no pay increase or mileage pay). Also, no benefits! Should I start job searching?

I've been working in the insurance industry (property and casualty) 4 years now as an insurance sales agent. Looking to switch gears a little. How do I get into the claims adjuster field. Looking to make a change and make good money. I currently make about 38k a year base and 1% in commission.

I work as a worker’s compensation adjuster and I cannot seem to get the hand of loss of time. Been in the same role for a year. Any piece of advise? I have made several improvements but it feels like I’m dragging it out. Last question is how do you manage claims that you have not handle for months and you’re too scared to do anything.

I’ve been a licensed general lines (2-20) insurance agent for year and a half and have sold around 2M in premium, of which most of it is personal lines (homeowners, DP), and some commercial lines business. Even though I’m licensed to write my own business, the sole producer in the company is my boss. I currently make 35k + 15k in commissions (approximately). Is this a normal salary? Has anyone ever asked to renegotiate their salary after starting a job? I’m 2 months into my new job and I have far more responsibilities than what I was told. It’s a lot different than what was relayed in the posting and during the interviews. Additionally, they hired my counter part in as a senior manager which is at least $30k more than what I make. My peer has more experience so I expect that but I feel that I should be paid more, however I don’t want to leave a bad impression… any advice?

I received an offer for $74k as underwriting analyst. Company is based out of DC. Is $74k a good offer? Or should I negotiate for more. 6 years in the industry. 5 as an account manager/underwriting assistant

Currently I make a base of $63k/yr and $1k/mo in bonuses pre-tax. I manage a performance for a team of licensed insurance agents (service-based role in a direct business environment), maintain our business relationships, and support adhoc training needs. I’m currently working in insurance customer service at an agency. I work in the mortgage department assisting w mortgage changes , payments etc. I’ve been thinking about becoming a claims adjuster most likely for property damage . Is it worth it ??? I hear a lot of talk about how claims adjusting is a lot of work and very demanding but I think my current position has prepared me for the challenge. What are some good companies I maybe should apply for after getting my license?
