I wanted to make money, meet interesting people, and maybe travel to interesting places. Things more or less worked out to my expectation, I sure can't complain about the money. I've gotten to go to some places I wouldn't have otherwise. As for the people, that's a law of diminishing returns in human terms, to be honest. They tend to be interesting but after a while they're not all that interesting. That's life.
I more or less had the same expectations as Analyst 1. I really just wanted to make money. I was young and hungry for opportunity and advancement. The expectations I had were definitely met because I make really great money and the benefits are an added bonus.
I think that’s the expectation for most when it comes to money. I won’t want to be in IB if the compensation is shit lol
