I think direct-to-employer is the most efficient path. I also recommend checking niche job boards for legal roles, they tend to cut out the staffing noise. Are you looking to work in a specific area of law or type of legal setting (like corporate, litigation, or government)?
I go with Indeed and LinkedIn as well as the company website.
I primarily used LinkedIn for my most recent job search.

There are tons of job web sources out there. Some work, some don't, some are scams, some are just what I call pass-overs, meaning they only sell/pass our name and information around to every Bob, Jane, and John Doe out there for a buck. Then there are the more serious ones that we find that actually works; pointing us in the right direction. The major ones.
There are a lot out there and everyone of them have probably my information. It's like a convenience store to me, we stop and check it out, send out the resume to some of their selected and see what happens. The possibilities are there but I will not state, "endless", I don't believe that crap one iota. It is overwhelming I agree! I personally hate it. But,....I think you know the rest.
