What's a minor workplace habit that instantly annoys you? For me, it’s the small talk and interruptions in office.

People who take calls at their desks without using headphones

likeuplifting

Totally fair! But in my mind, we all know at this point our companies aren't going to have enough space. The least you can do is have headphones

People that refer to Thursday as “Friday jr.”

Yes! It wasn't that cute the first time.

When someone is talking to the person next to me and starts creeping into my workspace. Like, my guy, I’m literally blocking you with my elbow.

Being forced to go into the office.

Just pray you can keep that a minor habit.

Watching the World Cup

I remember one agency I worked with that literally had it projected on a big screen the whole tournament. I don't even like soccer but hey! Free TV at work!

Weather chat and pleasantries at the start of every call.

Small talk with you or around you?

Asking minor questions they should have answered before giving you the project but you know you can figure out. The game is to delay having to do work. Dude, just do so we can all go home.

As an introvert, I think small talk is part of the job but I like to be alone on my lunch hour to get steps in and recharge. I hate feeling judged for that :(

Hello, I am a junior business administrator working in advisory operations. I have been with the company for 6 months, and was employed along with 2 other colleagues. I have picked the job up really fast and am even doing some “extra curricula’s” I really love my job. However I have recently found out I am being paid the same as an apprentice on my team, I usually do at 3 x the work he does whilst also doing my Cert CII. It has really disheartened me and I feel I should be earning more money

Has anyone here participated in the year long remote year program? My company is fully remote in the US and is in general supportive of me going but concerned about local and international tax liability. Remote year doesn’t share tax advice and our HR team is small. Curious to hear from people at companies who have done it before and if there were any issues from a tax or payroll perspective. Trying to get the formal approval from my company before officially signing up, advice welcome!

What holiday party did you get?
Anyone living close to an office, got a holiday party with food and drinks, and the venue started open for them until around midnight. Our remote workers got a one hour party w a DJ and trivia that let you win gift cards. Yeah it was nice to win a gift card but I found it lame in comparison to hanging out with my team in real life.

I'm accepting an offer with a new company... Start in early Aug. Senior Manager role, though in this company that equates to Manager at most consulting farms. They did not had hunt me. I came to them for the job.

I have COVID delayed vacations planned for the last week in August and the first week in October.

Should I just cancel one of them? Or should I at least put both on the table and see what they say? They're going to hire me either way, but I wonder if it's a bad start to ask for both.

I’m working for an agency where Art Directors are essentially managers of designers. Art Directors are promoted from Senior Designer, we have no Junior Art Directors.

This hasn’t been my experience, I’m used to Art Directors and Designers having separate career paths. However, I’m trying to keep an open mind. Is this org structure familiar to to anyone else? If so, has it been effective? Thanks in advance!

How much is too much when pushing for a raise? I’ve been in my position a little over 1 year, received top scores in my annual review, kept my team intact, yet I’m paid at the lowest salary band for my level. Manager has said multiple times she would look into a raise for me but nothing has happened. Person before me in this role was earning +$17K than me. How many times do I have to ask?
