I don’t know the movie, but ChatGPT tells me it was filmed at sun city resort, which is a luxury 5 star resort in South Africa - so, yea, you definitely need to adjust your budget if that’s the experience you want.
For reference, I recently did an 8 day safari in Tanzania for 2 people (shared room) and it was $11k total before flights. We stayed in mid-range properties (2 tented camps, one lodge)
That doesn’t sound bad. I could even do $15k total or leave the kids back lol.
Pro
I went to Kenya and we were glamping the entire time. It was amazing. But it was $11k for the two of us without flights. It also didn't include drinks (including water) and tips for our guides/hotel staff. I'm not sure your budget is feasible.
I can up it. $11k doesn’t sound bad for once in a lifetime exp.
Rising Star
$7.5k total? Including airfare? That seems really low.
No, only the experience.
Ask your Nigerian nephew.
I think you need to up your budget or change your destination / experience. Last time I looked into this anything reputable with airfare, accommodations and tours was well over $10k per person.
I would try the Snore and Roar at the local zoo with that budget
Zambia. Someone helped me book accommodation and activities at a fee...some activities included riding elephants, walking with lions, sightseeing of various wildlife like hippos croc etc.
Look at Africa Flash McTours and travel. I have used them twice now in Kenya.
We stayed at Porini Lion camp and had an incredible experience. It was in a conservancy off the main reserve, so didn’t have to deal with the massive crowds hovering the animals. Flight transfers directly from Nairobi as a part of the package.
I haven’t compared countries but Kenya was amazing!
This is not true, ive done 4 day safaris in the serengeti, tarangire and ngorongoro for 1.5k pp. So your budget is tight but doable.
Oof $7.5k for 4 ppl….for context my 2 week safari last summer was $15k per person. I hope you’re ok with participation camping (you set up camp yourself) with that budget.
Also what do you mean “best country”? Africa is a giant continent with a range of seasons and geographies and the environment and wildlife changes based on time of year.
I know you admitted you’re a stupid American but maybe do like 5 mins of googling before asking such a generic and uneducated question that it doesn’t even make sense 🤦♀️
I’m sorry I’m with D1 here
Your flight tickets are going to be the most expensive, $2500 average for a round trip per person, but as someone who lives in South Africa, goes camping and fishing all the time in the bush, the tour guides rip you guys off big time.
You can do glamping in the Kruger National Park for about $100 per night per person, including food and entertainment, that said, it is when locals book it. I know places charge more for tourists
Would you consider Kenyan coast? We have world class beaches and beautiful weather
Try Uganda,we can look for a good company
